Research Task 4

Finding the evidence for improved implementation of road traffic injury prevention interventions

This task aims to contribute to the reduction of road traffic injury-related morbidity and mortality by identifying implementation opportunities and providing tools and mechanisms for the collection and management of road traffic data in order to monitor and evaluate interventions for the prevention of road traffic injuries in Uganda and Rwanda.

For this task we will:

  1. Collect and assess the quality of currently available data on the epidemiology of road traffic injuries in Uganda and Rwanda;

  2. Identify key policy and programmatic aspects in the process of design, implementation, monitoringand evaluation of existing interventions to reduce the incidence of pedestrian road traffic injuries in Uganda and Rwanda;

  3. Conduct a systematic review to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions to prevent pedestrian crashes globally;

  4. Evaluate the implementation of existing pedestrian-targeted interventions to prevent the occurrence of road traffic injuries in Uganda and Rwanda.
